OFFICIAL LANGUAGE
The official language of the Symposium will be English. No simultaneous translation will be provided. Both presentations and discussions must be given in English.

AUDIO-VISUAL EQUIPMENT FOR ORAL PRESENTATIONS

  • Power Point presentations (single slide) will be accommodated with an LCD-panel projection system only.
  • For any other service, please contact the Main Secretariat Office by the end of August, 2007.

There will be no AV available for poster presentations.

BADGES
The official badge must be worn for admission to all scientific sessions and other activities of the Symposium.

CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE
Certificates of Attendance will be available on request at the end of the Symposium at the Registration Desk. The request form will be enclosed in the on-site registration materials.

SLIDE LIBRARY
A Slide Library of key selected presentations will be available after the Symposium at Lorenzini Foundation website.. 

SCIENTIFIC EXHIBIT
During the Symposium an exhibit on pharmaceutical, instrumentation, publishing, and suppliers of medical technology will be held in the meeting area. Parties interested in exhibiting may contact the Main Secretariat Office for more details.

BREAKFASTS AND COFFEE BREAKS
Continental Breakfasts and Coffee Breaks will be offered to all registered participants in the exhibition and poster areas and in the West Promenade area on the 3rd floor of the Hotel on Thursday, October 4 through Sunday, October 7.

SOCIAL PROGRAM
Welcome Reception - Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.
The Welcome Reception will be held at the Hilton New York. Join your colleagues for a gathering with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. This event is open to all Registrants.

Reservations are required for Welcome Reception. Kindly guarantee your reservation by indicating your intent to attend on the registration form.

Deadline for Welcome Reception reservations is September 19, 2007. Reservations will not be guaranteed for registrations received after September 19, 2007. 

Please wear your Symposium badge for admission to the Welcome Reception and to all Symposium events.

CONVENTION ATTIRE
Business attire is welcome for the meeting. Casual dress is acceptable in most restaurants in New York.

ELECTRICITY
The electrical current is 110 volts.

GRATUITIES
Gratuities or tips are generally not included in bills. As a general rule, an average restaurant tip is 15-20%. Tipping of bellmen, hotel doormen, etc. is done at each individual’s discretion. Tipping is customary for taxis, and at your discretion for airport limousines and shuttles.

HOTEL PARKING
Parking is available at the Hilton New York for $42 per day with in/out privileges.

VISA REQUIREMENTS
Please begin your visa application process as soon as possible. Consulates in some countries take several months to process applications. For information on obtaining your visa, please visit www.travel.state.gov/visa (US Department of State) or www.dhs.gov/us-visit (US Department of Homeland Security).

INSURANCE
Registration for the Symposium implies that the delegate agrees that neither the Scientific-Organizing Committee nor Giovanni Lorenzini Medical Foundation assume any liability or responsibility whatsoever. Symposium delegates are requested to make their own arrangements for medical, travel, and personal insurance.

SMOKING
Smoking is not permitted in the Hotel’s public and meeting areas. There are three floors of smoking guest rooms in the Hotel.

TRANSPORTATION
Taxi service is available from all major New York airports and currently costs between $30-$55 plus tip and tolls, depending on the airport. The Super Shuttle [(+1) 212-2583826 or (+1) 800 622-2089 (North America only), or www.supershuttle.com] serves to and from the major airports. The fare is currently $15-$19 per person to the Hilton New York, depending on the airport; allow for about one hour travel time. Attendees may also make transportation arrangements at the airport’s ground transportation center.

MESSAGE BOARD
A message board will be placed in the registration area located on the 2nd floor promenade of the Hotel, where any last-minute program changes and other essential information will be posted. Participants are kindly asked to check this board frequently.

CANCELLATION OF THE MEETING
Please note in the unlikely event that the XVI International Symposium on Drugs Affecting Lipid Metabolism is abbreviated or cancelled for any reason whatsoever Giovanni Lorenzini Medical Foundation and the Fondazione Giovanni Lorenzini reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to unilaterally terminate the Symposium. In such cases, the registrant and/or any funding/sponsoring organization hereby agrees to waive any claim against the Giovanni Lorenzini Medical Foundation and the Fondazione Giovanni Lorenzini for damages or compensation including, but not limited to, fees for registration housing airfare, and incidental charges.
