XIV
INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON
DRUGS
AFFECTING LIPID METABOLISM
SEPTEMBER
9-12, 2001
NEW YORK HILTON & TOWERS
SCOPE OF THE SYMPOSIUM
The
goal of the activity
is to update researchers and clinicians on recent research
regarding the effect of drugs on lipid metabolism and the
state of the art in clinical treatment of atherosclerosis
and other cardiovascular diseases, thereby enhancing patient
outcome. |
At
the conclusion of this symposium, participants should be
able to:
-
Assess
the benefits of lipid lowering on clinical endpoints
of cardiovascular disease and surrogate endpoints
such as endothelial function and progression of
atherosclerosis;
-
Evaluate
the importance of traditional and novel risk factors
including genetic polymorphisms as they relate
to atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease
and contribute to the response to drug therapy;
-
Differentiate
the multiple effects of various classes of medication,
alone, and in combination, on lipid modification
and measures of vascular function and disease;
-
Appraise
new drugs and their application to lipid disorders;
-
Critique
new approaches and future directions in the treatment
of lipid disorders; and
-
Evaluate
the social and economic benefits of the treatment
of lipid disorders.
|
The
scientific program will consist of invited lectures,
symposia, oral communications, and poster sessions
for submitted papers. CME credit has been applied
