In the past few years the use of biomarkers in clinical settings has been the focus of intense scientific
interest. This Symposium is aimed at taking a step forward by discussing the integration between
biochemical and bioimaging markers.
The rapid development of Biomarkers requires:
- Strict cooperation of scientists from industry, academia, and national and international agencies
to improve and accelerate the development of Integrated Biomarkers in human pathophysiology
and drug design;
- The increase of the predictive value of Integrated Biomarkers to support their use and to reduce
the uncertainty in the acceptance of biomarkers as a tool;
- Consolidated criteria for the definition, acceptance, or rejection of Integrated Biomarkers to meet
the needs of the stakeholders and to integrate the different expertises to support clinical decision making
as well as drug development.
