P. Pieri's curriculum vitae


Dr Pieri received his MD from the University of Bologna in 1971, and was Specialized in Cardiology “cum laude” at University of Bologna. From 1988-1990 he was Research Fellow in Nuclear Cardiology at Harvard University. He has been former Chief of Cardiology, Chief of the Department of Medicine since 2002, and currently he is Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine and Director Nuclear Cardiology Unit at “M. Bufalini-G. Marconi” hospital, Cesena, Italy.
From 1997 to 1999 Dr Pieri has been Chairman of the Italian Working Group on Nuclear Cardiology, and from 1997 to 2001 Chairman of the International Council of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.
Dr Pieri is member of Società Italiana di cardiologia (SIC), Associazione Italiana Cardiologi Ospedalieri (ANMCO), American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC). He is member of the Program Committee and of Organizing Committee of International Conference of Nuclear Cardiology; Chairman of the Host Committee and member of the Executive Organizing Committee of the International Conference on Nuclear cardiology (ICNC-6) April 2003, Florence; Chairman international Advisory Committee International Conference on Nuclear Cardiology (ICNC-7) Lisboa 2005.
He member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology and of the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine.
Dr Pieri has published approximately 100 publications mainly related to Nuclear Cardiology (experimental and clinical studies): perfusion tracers, myocardial viability, risk stratification and prognosis in patients with CAD, imaging of atherosclerotic plaques by monoclonal antibodies. He has been invited speaker and chairman at 130 international and national meetings.
Since 1988 he is President of the Organizing Committee and Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the
international meetings: “Nuclear Cardiology Today” held every four years in Cesena, Italy, attracting
cardiologists and nuclear medicine physicians from all over the world. In the last edition meeting entitled “Nuclear Cardiology Today:2000 and Beyond” attracted 450 participants from 35 countries.
