Dr. Galvani is Director of the Coronary Care Unit (National Health System)
of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Ospedale G.B. Morgagni, Forlì,
Italy. He is scientific coordinator of Cardiovascular Research Unit
of the Fondazione Cardiologica Sacco, Forlì, Italy. Dr. Galvani
established experience in the management of CCU patients (including
mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, IABP), echocardiography,
cardiac catheterization, and permanent pacemaker implantation. Dr. Galvani
was councilor in the National Board (1998-2000), General Secretary in
the National Board (2000-2002), and secretary of the Scientific Committee
(2002-present) of Associazione Nazionale Medici Cardiologi Ospedalieri
(ANMCO). He is currently president of the Italian Working Group on Atherosclerosis,
Thrombosis and Vascular Biology (2004-present). He is lellow of the
Associazione Nazionale Medici Cardiologi Ospedalieri (ANMCO) and of
the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).
Dr. Galvani is coordinator and member of the Steering Committee of multicentre
national and international studies, responsible of the update of the
national Clinical Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Unstable
Angina, member of the Joint European Society of Cardiology/ American
College of Cardiology Committee of the for the re-definition of Myocardial
Infarction, now Global Task Force of Myocardial Infarction Redefinition
(Biochemical panel). He is member of the Editorial Staff of the Bullettin
of the Associazione Nazionale Medici Cardiologi Ospedalieri: Cardiologia
negli Ospedali (from 2000 to 2002), and member of the Ethical Committee
of the Azienda USL of Forlì (since 2003). He is also member of
the Scientific Board of the Italian Heart Journal (official journal
of the Italian Federation of Cardiology) (since 2003).
Dr. Galvani has been speaker or chairman in more than 200 scientific
meetings, including: Annual Congress of the European Society of Cardiology,
Annual Congress of the European Section of the International Federation
of Clinical Chemistry, National Congress of the Associazione Nazionale
Medici Cardiologi Ospedalieri (ANMCO), National Congress of the Società
Italiana di Cardiologia (SIC), National Congress of the Società
Italiana di Biochimica Clinica e Biologia Molecolare Clinica (SIBioC),
National Congress of the Società Italiana di Medicina di Laboratorio
(SIMeL), National Congress of the Italian Society of Invasive Cardiology.
He is author/co-author of more than 250 scientific publications. More
than 50 papers are published on “peer reviewed” journals
with ISI impact factor. Author/co-author of 22 chapters in books, including
the Italian Textbook of Cardiology.
